INSTRUCTIONS
To Remove Old System
1. Take cup off bottom of existing
filter.
2. Remove filter and large o-ring.
3. Remove bolt with small o-ring and
flat washer.
4. Remove o-ring under head (#4 on
our drawing).

To Install DP-1000 Adapter
1. Place large o-ring (#4, size of a
penny) in seat under the casting.
2. Place smallest flat washer (#2) on
6mm bolt (#1),then add smallest
o-ring (#3) or use larger flat washer
and o-ring on 8mm bolt. Insert the
bolt through the hole on top of CAV
head.
3. Place quad ring (#5,3-1/2" dia.)
under head. It should stay in place.
4. Push adapter (#6) into place.
5. Bolt should be showing about 1/4"
of threads below socket.
6. Apply a drop of Loctite on bolt
and start nut (#8) on to bolt.  Nut is
NOT used on 8mm bolt. This is a self
locking nut, you will not be able to
turn all the way on by hand.
7. Place a 10mm open end or box
wrench in the palm of your hand.
Place your thumb and index finger
90º to the cross holes on smooth
portion below threads on socket and
tighten.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!
If you feel the metal between your
fingers move STOP! Adapter should
tighten before this could happen.
8. Fill filter with clean fuel and spin
on.  In boats, pump auxiliary hand
pump 5 to 6  times and start engine
at 1/2 throttle.

To use our adapter, you need 6½" clearance below your CAV filter head, using a standard filter.  
If your engine is a Perkins 4-108 with a marine oil cooler, you might need to use a NAPA 3361
filter as it is shorter and will accommodate our adapter and filter.
